We know Peter + Alexis through John Cusack Serendipity-like circumstance. A couple of years before I ever met Daniel, he lived and worked in Los Angeles at a recording studio in Hollywood with a guy named Peter. Daniel only stuck around for about a year on the West coast, moved back East, and quickly lost touch with most of his workmates.
In 2015 when we were unloading our lives into our new Los Angeles apartment, Daniel noticed Peter walk through the lobby with his then girlfriend / now fiancé Alexis. We moved into the same apartment as them—in a unit just a floor away from theirs. Other than bumping into them a few times on the elevator, though, we didn't see much of them. They moved into their first home shortly after.
Then, a couple of months ago, Alexis reached out with the news that they were engaged and on the hunt for a photographer. They met up with us in the restaurant below our old apartment, and we quickly fell in love with them / got bummed that we didn't hang out with them all of the time when we lived next door to each other.
This past weekend, we shot their engagement photos in the home they just bought together. It's part of an old warehouse near DTLA and their living room is an old dock (it's the COOLEST) (you'll see). They also took out their motorcycle for a spin, walked around the Arts District, and ended the evening in Chinatown.
It was one of our most favorite A Day in The Life sessions to date, and I'm so excited to share these images.
